CC, Amber, and Margie cut the ribbon on the new Thurmon Field (NVLL).
PitCCh In Foundation was established in 2010 and is lead by CC, his wife Amber, his mother Margie and a dedicated team of professional staff and volunteers who believe in the wonderful cause to make a difference in the lives of inner-city youth.
A national 501(c)3 non-profit, the Foundation has developed three Signature Programs that take place year-round as well as special events and projects. Each undertaking of the organization is done with careful consideration and “hands-on” involvement.
Foundation Executive Director Amber Sabathia works to ensure that the end result of each project are fulfilling the promise of the mission to enrich lives of youth from the inner city. It is a place to which both she and her husband can relate, coming from struggling upbringings themselves.
“I’ve dealt with everything,” CC said. “From people in my family passing away, there were drug addicts living in my house. There were many different things I had to deal with growing up. But I always knew what my goal was. I wanted to stay focused and have a better life for myself.”
“CC and I are both from the inner city,” Amber said. “Growing up, we felt there was one person who made a positive influence in our lives. And we hope that we can be that one positive person in other people’s lives. We were given a gift. And I knew that gift was to give back. To try and touch someone’s life and make a difference. That’s when we started the PitCCh In Foundation.”
Having grown up in extreme situations, only to become a Cy Young Award-winning pitcher and World Series champion, CC knows anyone can make the best out of their situations if they truly stay focused.
To date, the Foundation has achieved many significant accomplishments including:
